About Us

Brett Farquharson - Property Manager & Rental Specialist

In the mid to late 1990’s, I decided to get into property management and bought my first investment property. I steadily grew my portfolio and personally managed the majority of my rental properties in Rodney. Having quite a number of rental properties myself, I have met with numerous tenants and accumulated a number of interview techniques that helps me select high quality tenants for rental properties.

In 2000, the owners of L J Hooker Whangaparaoa approached me to manage their rent roll. While working with them, I specialised in taking on problematic tenants and handling the eviction process when necessary. I also worked with a team of honest and reliable tradespeople to repair any damage left by previous tenants so that we could re-let the property to high quality tenants. When the opportunity arose in 2006 to invest in 50% shares of the rental department, I immediately jumped at it.

In 2010, L J Hooker Whangaparaoa gave me another opportunity to purchase the remaining shares in the company. Not wishing to remain dictated by an Australian run corporation, I closed L J Hooker Whangaparaoa and founded Global Rentals & Property Management. This has given us the ability to customise our management packages to suit our landlords, thereby truly making us your local property management experts in the greater Rodney District and on the North Shore.

When we moved to the Hibiscus Coast, I was actively competing as a boxer. Unfortunately, there were no gyms for me to train in, so I rented a shed instead. One day, a 13 year old boy knocked on the door and asked if I would teach him to box. That was the start of the Manly Boxing Gym. I trained everyone from kids wanting to build confidence and learn self defence to Olympic level amateur boxers and international professional fighters. I retired from competing as a boxer at the end of 1992 and started training the Auckland rep team from then till 1995.

I also studied sports science at AIT and proceeded to qualifying as a Corrective and High Performance Exercise Kinesiologist specialising in combative athletes at the C.H.E.K Institute. I then went on to the ABA executive committee for 2 years and trained the Auckland rep team from 2003 to 2005. In 2006, I was involved in starting the Rodney District Boxing Association, where I was president and head trainer up until 2008. I have since retired from training boxers and have been concentrating on developing the business.
